Venetian / Palazzo Department Store 3D Scan Project

DEPARTMENT STORE 3D SCAN PROJECT

A successful 3D Scan project requires a detailed Scanning Plan. In this case targeting spheres and flat paper targets were used along with a Robotic Total Station. Placement of these targets was critical in the success of this project!

Facility Capture, LLC was privileged to be asked to 3D Scan the closed down Barney’s department Store located in the Venetian Grand Canal Shoppes in beautiful Las Vegas, NV. The goal of the project was to document the existing conditions of the store by creating a 3D Point Cloud of the first two floors of the store, including the grand staircase at the street entrance of the facility.

Our scanning technicians were given free reign of the facility for a full 8 hours. In order to complete the scanning job within this timeline, the technicians employed the use of a Top-Con Robotic Total Station and four FARO 3D Scanners. In order to properly tie the two floors together, paper targets and spheres were strategically placed throughout the facility in locations that were visible to one another. Also, the Robotic Total Station was placed in locations on the first and second floors visible to similar targets on both floors.

The Data from the 3D Point Cloud was then used by a Los Angeles company to create a Flex-Space out of the facility that can be used for multiple purposes, easily transformed to the tenants sales plans. Below are some pics of the space before and after the work was completed!
